Enable or Disable Show All USB Input Devices
TheShowallUSBinputdevicesoptionisdisabledbydefault.Thisoptionenablesusers
tousespecialUSBHIDsinsideavirtualmachineexclusively.
VMwarerecommendsdisablingautomaticconnectionofUSBdevicewhenusinga
KVMswitchforamouseorkeyboard.
Beforeyoubegin,makesurethatthevirtualmach
ineispoweredoff.
To enable or disable Show all USB input devices
1 SelectVM>Settings.
2OntheHardwaretab,selectUSBController.
3 SelecttheShowallUSBinputdevicescheckboxtoenableordisablethesetting
andclickOK.
IftheShowallUSBinputdevicescheckboxisenabled,alltheHIDs,suchasUSB
1.1and2.0mous
eandkeyboarddevices,appearasRemovableDeviceswhenthe
virtualmachineispoweredon.
Connect a USB Device Manually
Ifadevicethatisconnectedtothehostdoesnotautomaticallyconnecttoavirtual
machineatpoweron,youcanconnectthedevicemanually.
Beforeyoubegin,forUSBmouse,keyboard,andotherinputdevices,youmustenable
showingthesedevices.See“EnableorDisableShowAllUSBInputDe
vices”on
page 354.
Al
so,whenyouareusingavirtualmachine,ifyouplugadeviceintothehost,the
autoconnectfeatureusuallyconnectsthedevicetothevirtualmachine.Ifthisaction
doesnotoccur,youcanconnectthedevicemanually.
