6 Createashortcuttotheconfigurationfileonthedesktopandnameit.
7Runthisvirtualmachinebydouble‐clickingtheshortcuttotheconfigurationfile.
Thevirtualmachinestartsatthesnapshot,withtheuserinterfacerestricted.Users
donothaveatoolbaroraccesstotheVM>Powermenuorthevirtualmachine
settingseditor.
8 ChooseFile>Close.
Thevirtualmachinepowersoff,andthenexttimeauserpowersiton,itreturnsto
thesnapshot.
Disable the Restricted User Interface
DisabletherestricteduserinterfacetomakeitemsintheVMmenuavailabletousers
again.
To disable the restricted user interface
1PoweroffthevirtualmachineandclosetheVMwareWorkstationwindow.
2Opentheconfigurationfile(.vmx)fileanddooneofthefollowing:
Setgui.restricted = "FALSE".
Removeorcommentoutthegui.restricted = "TRUE"line.
3 Savethechangestotheconfigurationfileandcloseit.
4Startthevirtualmachinebydouble‐clickingtheshortcut.
Thevirtualmachinestartsatthesnapshot,andtheinterfaceisnotrestricted.
